With regard to the Vivek interview, the irony is that Nayeema said, as a journalist, "you either need to the person saying the false things or the person fact-checking", when Vivek had to fact-check her on what he said about bringing in diverse points of view. On a related note, when Vivek called them out on this, Ben's response was focused on the fact that they referred only to conservative names (e.g. Tucker) because it was "interesting" (i.e, would be controversial with BuzzFeed viewers) while ignoring that building a media company around truly diverse thought would be new and interesting. These two are so snarky and condescending it was difficult to watch.

Where was Vivek "abstract"? And you both need to stop talking over your guests

I can’t stand Vivek as a politician. As a businessman… he seems *slightly* less insufferable. I don’t think I’ll ever trust him after his chameleonic campaign for the Republican nomination. But it was still an interesting interview. Thankyou for doing it. Came here from the Bulwark! Really interested to get a deeper understanding of media organisational decisions, and how that impacts everything.

The only thing interesting to note that they pointed out was that the Trump trial was not televised. I wonder if people would have a different opinion of it if they had seen it in person.

I gave up watching right after Vivek checked you guys for being classic media and not representing his letter faithfully by only taking right wing names. The nasal host's justification for it is was laughably abyssmal. The lady is no good either, was her accusational tone really necessary when she asked Vivek if he would let Mehdi on the platform? Vivek's literal message was that the platform must bring in people from across the political and cultural spectrum. Give me one left wing name that would be okay with this proposal. Those that are the self-proclaimed proponents of free speech and protectors of democracy in America. Seriously, make your little videos if you will but dont call yourselves above traditional (left wing) media because you're not. People are smart enough to see through that bs so you wont be getting away with it!

Oh great, this is just what we need! 2 more supposedly non-biased talking heads saying a lot of words without really saying anything, cutting off their guests mid sentense, passive aggressively condescending them, nitpicking from a broader context while claiming to provide an accurate analysis and a heavily edited conversation that does no justice to what the guest was trying to convey. Taking that purposefully misquoted part of his letter about him wanting to bring in diversity of thought and twisting it into only listing the conservative names was DIRTY and journalistly dishonest. I can't believe the co-host didn't call that out. Surely if they're familiar with political voices they know Destiny is the other end of the spectrum.

30 minute conversation and you cut it down to 10? And even in those 10 minutes you cut him off mid answer… what a bunch of losers

I've saved the Semafor news site as a home tab (the dozen or so tabs that appear when I launch Firefox) to check into it. So far it appears to be poor, as we see with this piece using a glib host with a nasty vocal fry. I'm 6 minutes into this and they've said nothing, and are actually discussing the Alito flag non-story without stating that it's the exact kind of junk that indicates the media is junk. They move on to Trump trial and introduce "our colleige Maggie Haberman" who is of course a common pure hack who will parrot anything that is the running theme of neocons/neoliberals. 8min and NOTHING has been said. These people aspire to be the next Rachel Maddow, to drag in that huge paycheck, to become a celebrity of TV news. I'll keep Semafor as a home tab in case it is useful honest, or even good, but I see no evidence of that 10 minutes into this.
